TELA Mission

To guide children to the realization of their innate goodness through Human Values Education – also known as ‘Educare.’

The Embodiments of Love Academy (TELA) was established in 2012 to provide free quality values-based education to the young residents of Heart of Love Children’s Home, HOLCH and other poor village children from more than 28 surrounding villages. Initially, it admitted primary school children only, extending to Nursery and Secondary levels more recently.

The Children learn how to live happy and productive lives based on core human values. They will in time become a cadre of self-reliant, caring and responsible adults who will bring about the transformation of their society by their inspiring leadership and example.

Positive human values are integrated into every part of the curriculum so that, not only do the children achieve academic success but also fully develop socially, emotionally, morally and spiritually. The Academy currently educates over 1200 children in its Nursery, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

While not excluding the rich, the goal of the school is to provide free integral education to children who are marginalized, on the streets, at risk of dropping out, or who could not otherwise attend school because of their socio-economic status.

TELA Schools

The Embodiments of Love Academy (TELA) Nursery School

TELA Nursery School takes care of the educational needs of children from ages 2 to 5 years and comprises of Pre –Nursery classes, and Nurseries 1 to 3 classes.  There are about 230 children in TELA Nursery School with 10 teachers.

The Embodiments of Love Academy (TELA) Primary School

TELA Primary School takes care of the educational needs of children from ages 6 to 12 years and comprises of Grades 1 to 5.  There are about 241 pupils in the TELA Primary School with 10 teachers. Since Educare is intrinsically Child-centric – tailored to the individual needs of each student – we maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:25.

The Embodiments of Love Academy (TELA) Secondary School

Presently, TELA Secondary School has 49 students who are in Junior Secondary 1 and 2 classes. The Secondary School however is currently a major pressure point with as yet a small teaching staff of 9 teachers and no proper facilities, and classes are held in makeshift premises until funding can be raised for a proper school building. Building these facilities is currently top priority.

In the 2017/2018 academic year, our Junior Secondary School students will sit for their first National Examination (NECO).
